The event was aimed at providing students with a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in the start-up ecosystem, particularly focusing on market research and idea validation. The webinar featured Dr. Sushil Bajaj, Assistant Professor in Commerce at CRM Jat College, Hisar, as the guest speaker. During the session, Dr. Sushil Bajaj shared invaluable insights into the success and failure stories of various start-ups. He emphasized the importance of market research and how entrepreneurs can determine whether their start-up idea is viable. The webinar was graced by the presence of Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, who delivered the welcome address. Faculty members and students participated enthusiastically, making the event successful. National Webinar on “Make in India: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Self-Reliance” Organized by GDC Jawali.

Jawali, March 17, 2025: The Department of Commerce, Government Degree College, Jawali, successfully organized a National Webinar on “Make in India: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Self-Reliance” on March 17, 2025. The webinar aimed to explore the significance of the Make in India initiative, its impact on industrial growth, economic self-reliance, and its role in positioning India as a global manufacturing hub.
The webinar commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Nishant Narang, Assistant Professor of Commerce, who set the stage by highlighting the importance of the Make in India initiative in fostering entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable economic development. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Principal of GDC Jawali, who emphasized the role of academia in promoting awareness about government initiatives and encouraging youth participation in economic development.
The keynote speaker and resource person, Ms. Shahla Ayoub, Assistant Professor, Department of Higher Education, Government of J&K, and Independent Women Director at Jammu and Kashmir Bank, delivered an insightful session on the economic impact of Make in India, challenges in its implementation, and the way forward for achieving self-reliance. She elaborated on the importance of innovation, financial inclusion, and economic resilience in the context of India’s growth strategy.
The webinar witnessed an overwhelming response with around 130 participants, including students, researchers, and faculty members from across the country.
The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Diksha Thakur, Student of B.Com 2nd Year, who expressed gratitude to Ms. Shahla Ayoub for sharing her expertise, the Principal and faculty members for their support, and all participants for making the event a success.

Organised National FDP on “Assessing the Health of Indian Economy”
Jawali, March 10, 2025 – The Department of Commerce at Government Degree College, Jawali, organized a one-day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Assessing the Health of the Indian Economy”. The event witnessed participation from around 138 academicians, researchers, and professionals from various universities and colleges across the country.
FDP Coordinator, Mr. Nishant Narang, Assistant Professor (Commerce), welcomed all participants and the resource person, outlining the objectives of the program. This was followed by a welcome address by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Principal, GDC Jawali, who emphasized the importance of economic awareness in building a strong nation. He stated, “Economic literacy is essential for shaping a resilient and progressive India.”
The keynote speaker, Mr. Siddharth Rathore, Assistant Professor (Economics), Mata Sundri College, University of Delhi, delivered an insightful session on India’s current economic scenario, key economic indicators, growth potential, global influences, and policy reforms. He elaborated on India’s GDP trends, inflation, government policies, and financial markets, providing valuable insights for the attendees.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where participants actively engaged with the expert to gain deeper clarity on various economic aspects. Ms. Tanvi Thakur, a B.Com 2nd-year student, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the keynote speaker, organizers, and participants for making the event a success.

Jawali, February 24, 2025: The Department of Commerce, Government Degree College, Jawali, successfully organized a webinar on “Decoding Budget 2025: Key Direct Tax Changes & Implications” on February 24, 2025. The session, attended by faculty members, students, and professionals, provided a comprehensive analysis of the latest direct tax changes introduced in the Union Budget 2025.
The webinar commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Nishant Narang, Assistant Professor of Commerce, who highlighted the significance of understanding tax reforms and their impact on businesses and individuals.
